fire and fibre – exhibition opening

After the exhibition at The Royal Botanics Gardens Edinburgh in Spring this year, I started working with one of the other ‘Conserving Ecologies – Craft and Biodiversity’ exhibitors, the fibre artist, Caroline Dear.  Our theme was Collaboration and we were hoping to exhibit our exploration of clay and fibre with the Scottish Potters Association and Scottish Basketmakers’ Circle at the end of the year in the Collins Gallery, Glasgow.

The twelve sets of partners that have been selected have been working hard over the past few months to develop their exhibition work and will be exhibiting their explorations, experiments including video, sound and sketchbooks, from this Saturday running until the 17th December 2011.

Collaborative work by Caroline Dear and Anne Murray

Further information and details of our making process can be seen at our collaborative blog on tumblr called clay and fibre.

If you’re in Scotland and Glasgow over the next month please come along to the Collins Gallery and say hello to Laura and the team.  The grand opening is on Saturday 19th November 2011 from midday, come for a catch up and help us to celebrate the end of a brilliant exploration.

Looking forward to seeing the exhibition and having a great catch up with those who can make it. ax

  1. Sounds like a brilliant project – would be great to see it. I’ll see if I can find a reason to travel up that way!
